This morning’s show was an eclectic mix of blues styles. A little bit of Chicago, a little bit of acoustic, some new stuff and a fair mix of familiar artists. I played two from Duke Robillard’s new CD “Stomp the blues tonight”. Duke Robillard rounded out some of his Roomful of Blues friends and a few other great musicians and produced another terrific CD. Listen for more from this CD on future Thursday morning Breakfast with the Blues shows. We’re working on getting Fiona Boyes down to Eugene next month for a little house party so I thought it would be nice to hear a couple from her. Hope to catch you in a couple weeks.

Playlist for Thursday May 28th 2009
This show had to be one of my worst efforts in a long time. Not so much the music although there were a couple CD’s I played that I didn’t care for at all. Generally I struggled with the “on air” portion of the show all morning. It didn’t help that I woke up at exactly 5:19 and was in the station ready to go at 5:31, but even after I finally woke up I made one mistake after another. How embarrassing! I played 3 songs from Tab Benoit’s “Brother to the Blues” (I love that CD) and 2 songs from Luther Kent’s tribute to Bobby Bland and that’s a very good CD as well. I was less impressed with the songs I played from The Insomniac’s new CD “At least I’m not with you” and Zac Harman’s latest “From the Root”. I don’t know what “root” Zac Harman is referring to, but I’ll have to take both of these CDs home for a more thorough revue before I’ll consider playing either one of them on my show.
Robben Ford / Hand in hand with the blues
BB King / No good
Jimmy Cavallo / Poor me
Eric Lindell / I can get off on you
Insomniacs / At least I’m not with you

Elmore James / Got to move
Rob Stone & the C Notes / Stranger blues
Rob Stone & the C Notes / Pickin’ the blues
Jeremy Spencer / It hurts me too
Otis Rush / Laughin’ & Clownin’
Nighthawks / Two bugs and a roach
Nighthawks / illustrated man
WC Clark / If you think about it
Duffy Bishop / Change your address
Luther Allison / Rock me baby
Johnny Jones / Love recession
Paul Delay / Every woman I get
Paul Delay / Worn out shoe
John Marx / My heart is hanging heavy
Robert Cray / Playing in the dirt
Tab Benoit / So high
Tab Benoit / Why are people like that
Tab Benoit / I’m on your side
Luther Kent / Don’t cry no more
Luther Kent / That’s the way love is
Rick Estrin & The Nightcats / A ton of money
Delta Moon / Officer
